Very insightful and valuable commentary.

But have you considered that the operation was a huge success as far as Netanyahu's singular goal - staying out of jail?

If the US gets dragged in it will because of Trump's ego. Netanyahu is pretty much doing what he wants and Trump cannot stand it.

Joe-One of the advantages (or disadvantages) of getting old is that we have memories to rely on. This seems like ax re-run of Ground Hog Day without the humor.

The US fought the war in Iraq and Iran won. We’ve foolishly supported an outright attack on innocent civilians in Gaza. We humbled ourselves in the first Iraq. All of these happened at the request of/ for the benefit of Israel. When and where do we say basta!

The only hope that I see is the MAGA crowd. They clearly do not want another war. If common sense and decency isn’t DJT’s guiding light (it isn’t) keeping the masses happy might be.

Just in from CNN. He is moving up the escalation ladder. Slowly at first. But with him who knows?

"President Donald Trump does not intend to sign a joint statement calling for de-escalation between Israel and Iran that had been drafted by G7 leaders in Canada, according to a person familiar with the matter, though officials preparing the document held out hope that he could eventually be convinced to add his name."

Look, I love Obama, but...

Obama's Iran nuke deal did not solve the problem. It kicked the can down the road to some future administration. Classic political move, sidestepping the problem, while claiming to have fixed it.

We have now arrived at "some future administration". While Netanyahu is not a very appealing fellow, he has done more to solve the Iran problem than anybody else ever has. He has decapitated Iran's proxies in a truly impressive manner, and is now going for their puppet masters. He's wisely seizing a unique opportunity while Russia is hopelessly distracted elsewhere.

Please remember who Netanyahu is attacking, ruthless psychopathic thugs who have been violently repressing the people of Iran for decades, while also spreading violence throughout the region. Not only is Netanyahu doing the world a favor, he seems to be doing it with the usual Israeli brilliance.

The typical Democratic Party culture of pretending to be above it all with the snotty superior tones seems very very empty to me. What is our solution to the Iranian regime problem? We have none. And that's why people aren't listening to us.

Trump now says he wants Iran's unconditional surrender. Does he understand the potential political, military, and economic impacts of putting Tehran under that pressure? I think not.

Not to be overlooked are the many voices in the US and European national security establishments who’ve also for years bought into the obsession with Iran, including the obsession with regime change there. The rhetoric may differ but, on the substance, all Western powers were in sync: only one country has the right to self-defense. Makes one think they actually prefer chaos; the question is why.
