Joe- You've spent a lifetime battling the proponents of nuclear weapons. I applaud you for your persistence. You're logical and rational.

Our current situation amplifies your concerns. Reason and logic are disregarded and are replaced by emotion and ego.

I never would have believed that we'd let a tin pot dictator like Bibi call the shots for foreign policy but it has happened. We fight the wars and Bibi wins. Neither he nor our dear leader have. a clue what to do when the carnage ends. Maybe it won't.

So far, Bibi has been fighting, and he does indeed have a day after plan.

But all that aside, what do you, or the author, suggest that Israel do in the face of a threshold nuclear state that states its unwavering goal is the "eradication of the Zionist cancer from the face of the earth"?

I find it difficult to defend a ‘secret’ nuclear armed state that has exhibited its muscle by bombing Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Iran and Gaza and the West Bank. If nuclear weapons are as evil and v threatening as we are being led to believe, why should we trust the Israelis with them?

Because Israel has only ever responded to attacks on it in self-defence. Israel has never threatened another country, except to assure that any attack on the Jewish state will be met with overwhelming force. IF!!! Israel has nuclear weapons, they will only be used if the world allows its potential demise, as the Iranians and others hope for and promise. And in that case, the price that will be paid by the international community will be unfathomable. Israel will not go gently into that good night.

Complex long term thought is not a hallmark of this administration. Netanyahu and Trump are like those couples who embark on a murder spree, locked in a relationship that will ultimately end badly. But in the meantime the attacks on Iran keep Bibi in power, and give Trump an opportunity to both stroke his ego by demonstrating his toughness, and to distract from his many others failures including his poorly attended parade.

Seems to me, if you face country that says you have no right to exist and has for years supported multiple terrorist organizations trying to carry out that country’s goal, and if they had a nuke they tell you they would use it on you, you should just stand by and let them use their nuke on you so you would finally have a reason to nuke them, that’s rather late in the game to use your nukes. Because a half dozen nukes would turn your whole country into a slag heap. If someone tells you they want to kill you it makes no sense not to believe them.

What options does Israel have in the face of a threshold nuclear state that has stated, since 1979, that its unwavering goal is the "eradication of the Zionist cancer from the face of the earth"?
