I agree, Walz is a great pick. He seems the perfect compliment to Harris. The progressives will be happy, and fly over country heartland independents as well.

We should however keep in mind that neither party has anything interesting or useful to say about the biggest threat to America, nuclear weapons. Walz read a book about nukes? Who cares?? That's not leadership, anybody can read a book.

If political leaders on both sides continue to enable nuclear weapons denial, sooner or later it's not going to matter which party wins Washington.

Not the worst pick but PA Josh would have been much better.

Walz. What can’t be said about this governor’s tenure? Responsible for deaths of nursing home resident s during lockdown, enacted “ snitch on your neighbor “ during lockdown, ordered tampon dispensers placed in boys’ bathrooms as we know boys have vaginas, sometimes, held up the Nat’l Guard during the summer of love whilst perps destroyed, looted and partied in Minneapolis and most recently, claimed tens of thousands of children fed whilst a group of Somalis stole around 250 million taxpayer dollars. Yep, he’s awesome.

How do we understand or explain the chronic failure of national leaders to attend to the biggest threat to the survival of America as a nation?

On one hand, I get it. In a democracy politicians are supposed to represent the public, and the public isn't really interested in nuclear weapons. So the politicians in BOTH parties reflect that lack of interest.

On the other hand, in the culture of America today everybody seems outraged by just about everything. Everything is a scandal and nefarious conspiracy to somebody. Except for this. Almost nobody on any side seems to be at all bothered by the fact that national leaders almost never get around to discussing the biggest threat to the nation.

We're currently engaged in a round the clock hysterical process where we will select a single human being to have sole authority over civilization ending weapons. A single person. Sole authority. Civilization ending weapons. But those weapons apparently aren't interesting enough to talk about.

The movie Don't Look Up presents itself as a kind of screw ball comedy. But really, it's a highly accurate documentary. We are all living in that movie.
